Heads up!
On October 1, we introduced Gitpod Flex. You can swap between documentation by using the
switcher in the left navigation bar.
Gitpod Desktop
The following is for creating a development environment on Gitpod Desktop. See getting started to understand benefits compared to self-hosting on an AWS runner.
Steps
Download Gitpod Desktop
You can download Gitpod Desktop here. You can also find the download link in the navigation bar when logged in at app.gitpod.io.
Create your environmen
When you have authenticated you can create your first environment by clicking create an environment in the sidebar.
Paste a public, or private repository URL and click create environment. For private repositories you will be prompted to authenticate.
Choose Gitpod Desktop
To launch your environment on your device, choose Gitpod Desktop when you start an environment.
